Bucharest, 24 February 2025 – For three years, the large-scale war in Ukraine has left a deep mark on the entire world. Thousands of lives have been affected, and the country has been plunged into an unprecedented humanitarian crisis. In this context, millions of Ukrainians have been forced to leave their homes, seeking refuge and safety in neighboring countries.
In Romania, the Jobs for Ukraine platform has played a crucial role during this difficult period, offering not only concrete support but also hope for a more stable future. Launched in 2022 by the Project Voyager Association, the platform has become a central pillar in the integration of Ukrainian refugees into the labour market, providing access to employment opportunities, professional training, counselling sessions, and other essential information and resources.
Since the launch of Jobs for Ukraine, we have assisted over 20,000 Ukrainian refugees in finding employment in Romania. We have organised thousands of counselling sessions and hundreds of professional training courses, offering support in recruitment processes, skills development, and integration into Romania’s labour market. To date, over 2,600 employers have joined the initiative, posting more than 9,000 job opportunities in various sectors, including sales, consulting, IT, beauty & wellness, construction, hospitality services, education, and healthcare. Jobs for Ukraine has been more than just a platform for providing jobs for refugees; it has played a key role in reshaping the labour market. Through this initiative, local companies have gained access to a valuable talent pool, contributing to the local economy and fostering a diverse and inclusive work environment.
“Working with Jobs for Ukraine has been an extremely positive experience for me. From the very beginning, the team showed a high level of professionalism, providing me with a detailed overview of the Romanian labour market and the hiring process for foreigners. They introduced me to their platform [Jobs for Ukraine], where job opportunities for Ukrainians were regularly posted, and guided me through each step of the process to ensure I overcame any difficulties. Additionally, they paid special attention to my CV, offering very useful suggestions to tailor it to the requirements of Romanian employers. Thanks to their support, I was much more prepared during interviews, and ultimately, I secured a position at a global technology services and solutions company. The team also helped me enroll in free Romanian language courses, which not only improved my chances of employment but also helped me integrate more easily into the local community.” – Yulia Kolchik, supported by Jobs for Ukraine.
We are deeply grateful to our partners for their ongoing support and for the fact that, together, we have been able to make a real difference in the lives of those who needed it most. Our collaborations with key organisations and institutions, local authorities, and private companies have been essential to the success of this project. Together, we will continue to stand by those affected by the war in Ukraine, providing them with access to jobs, professional training, and counseling to facilitate their socio-economic integration into their host communities.
