On 30 May 2025, the RomExpo Community Centre in Bucharest hosted a Job Fair organised by Jobs for Ukraine in partnership with UNHCR, UN Refugee Agency in Romania. The event brought together over 150 job seekers and 14 employers, creating a valuable platform for direct engagement, real opportunities across various sectors, and meaningful connections.
Throughout the day, participants engaged in direct conversations with employers from diverse industries such as hospitality, retail, logistics, recruitment services and FMCG. This face-to-face interaction allowed job seekers to explore positions that matched their skills and experience, while employers had the opportunity to connect with a diverse pool of candidates.
“The organisation was very good. I especially appreciated the presence of interpreters for Ukrainian and also Arabic. I also liked the workshop component; my colleague and I each participated in one, and I found the information useful and relevant for this kind of event”, – Claudia Mușoaie, Recruitment and Training Manager, NTN
The event also offered a series of workshops designed to empower the attendees with essential knowledge and confidence. Workshops covered critical topics such as employment rights, legislation on hiring refugees, and strategies for integrating vulnerable persons into the labour market.
“This was my first experience because I just started looking for a job. The interaction was absolutely friendly. They answered all my questions. Some spoke English, Romanian, even a bit of Russian. It felt comfortable for me”, – Krystyna, 34, refugee from Ukraine
Career counseling was another vital element of the day, with specialists offering personalised advice to help job seekers navigate the employment landscape in Romania and plan their next steps effectively.
“They were very professional, and when I entered, they showed so much hospitality. I felt like I entered my relatives’ place or something; they just accepted me in a good way, and everyone was very helpful. I came to this job fair to explore, and if I find something very good for me, I will join. I found two jobs that are very good for me, and maybe I will contact them as soon as possible” – Sumaya, Computer Science student from Bangladesh
